Base Set

July 25th 2018 was the release date of TOS Captain’s Collection Card Set. You gotta admit, a crew is only as good as it’s Captain. The TOS set focuses mainly on Kirk and Pike, utilizing ‘Captain’s Logs’, with a nod to some other famous captains. It also reflects the 80 episodes of TOS.  The base set is a white-bordered, glossy 80 card set on thick card stock. Rittenhouse reports using over 400 images in the base set.

Inserts

  • The parallel set is a ‘retro’ card set on a non-glossy card stock, similar to cards form the 1970’s.  Odds were changed from 1:24 to 1:12.
  • The Inside the Enterprise Set is a 9-card insert set that features interior shots from around the Enterprise.
  • The Movies Captain’s Log Set is a 9-card Captain’s Log Set from the various Movies. Format is similar to the Base Set.
  • The Ortiz Lobby set is an 80 card set designed by Juan Ortiz in his unique style with the format of a Lobby Card found in the theaters.
  • The Where No Man Has Gone Before set is a 70 card look at the episode of the same name with a scene by scene, in-depth look at the episode. Uses over 300 images. Cards are silver-foiled.
  • The Bridge Crew Dual set is the first time both the TOS and Reboot crews have been on the same card. In the past, the sets were not part of the same licensed and couldn’t be blended.  But, now they can and this very colorful foil set.
  • The next card set was due to be a Discovery set, but has been delayed, but feel free to enjoy this snack sized set. 4 silver type cards with 1 character per card. The characters are facing away from the camera, you’ll have to get the set in 2019 to see the other set.
  • The 50th Anniversary Stamp Set features 10 Canadian stamps released to celebrate the 50th Anniversary. The two lenticular cards,  the Enterprise and Klingon Battlecruiser appear to be more rare.  Takes 10 cases to put together a full set.
  • There are 3 different autograph cards. First is a continuation of the SkyBox autograph set numbering up to A300. The second is a continuation of the Silver Series signature set.
    The last type of autograph set is a new style, the inscription set. The front has a larger square for the actor to sign his name and various comments from the character.  The actors signed from 5 to 13 different variations. A complete list will be in the checklist.  Sean Kenney appears to have delighted in the idea the most, most of his are original saying his character would say (if he could talk) and includes “Beep Beep’ as one offering.
  • There are 27 different artists doing cards for this set, including a few new names. Sketch odds are 1 per case. The cards seem especially nice with this product. Check out one of the artist’s videos creating cards for this set. See the magic!!!

  • Two numbered, cut signature cards from Susan Oliver (relic card) x/14 and Vic Tayback x/33.
