Base Set
Similar to the earlier DS9 Profiles set, the Voyager Profiles set featured cards based around the 10 most important series characters in Seasons One through Four. Each subset consists of 3 Personal Log cards; 3 Reflection cards featuring comments about the character from other characters; one Captain’s card with comments from Janeway; one Crew Manifest card, and one Alien Encounter card featuring a significant incident between the character and an alien. Kes only has 8 cards dedicated to her as one card is the checklist.
Inserts
- Alien Technology cards
- Make-Up Cards displaying Michael Westmore’s creations.
- The 7 of 9 insert set was a series of 9 cards focusing on 7 of 9. Each card had an embossed figure of 7 of 9 on the front and details about this character on the back. The 7th card is a mirror type card in the front and was limited to 1:144. Some collectors were frustrated by the fact that with one card out of the set being more rare there will be many unfinished sets.
- One of the Captain’s Cards were released in this set. This hand numbered card was limited to 1200 and featured the Captain and an image of his/her ship. The four cards in this series were reprinted after the release of Voyager Profiles as they felt they were too dark. For a brief period of time, some uncut sheets of the first production runs circulated through the secondary market. About the same time, a small number of unnumbered Captain’s cards form all 4 series, even those not yet released, began to appear. SkyBox explained that since all 4 Captain’s cards were printed at the same time, the printer put all 4 cards into the master sets of Voyager Profiles used by SkyBox for internal and external use (such as gifts or promotionals). These master sets were likely the ones broken up and sold as singles. When compared to the reprints, it’s easy to tell as the reprints are much brighter and colorful.
- The full cast signed for this set and the images used are very nice posed shots. There are no true short runs in the autograph series, unlike TOS. The smallest number is about 800 cards with an average of about 1000. Those signing 800 cards are Picardo, McNeill, Josh Clark, John Delancie, Jennifer Lien, Garrett Wang, Tim Russ, and Ethan Phillips. The most plentiful are: Kate Mulgrew and Michael McKean with the rest falling in between these two numbers.
Reports surfaced of a ’super case’ with boxes offering 36 autographs a box!!!
- Like TOS, a series of letter cards were inserted, the autograph challenge phrase was “Star Trek Voyager” with the Y being the limited card. (image of 7 of 9). If one managed to pull the full series of letters, these cards could be redeemed for a complete autograph set. There were 50 Y’s inserted into packs.
Unlike earlier autograph challenge cards the letter on the card and the images do not match. Late in the development of the set SkyBox received the formal cast shots for the upcoming series and they looked so nice, they chose to use them for the challenge cards.
Autograph Variations
- A17, the Clown auto, has two versions of his signature, one with and one without the gold coloring to the name. All this represents is a sheet that did not pass through all the phases of inkings, but for variation collectors we make note of it
- Robert Picardo has a numbered to 95 version of his auto card he signed at conventions, from RAP Library of Robert Picardo.
Promos
- A promo card was released for general distribution.

The star-studded autograph list is headed by Kate Mulgrew (Captain Kathryn Janeway), Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine), John De Lancie (Q) and more than a dozen other actors. Star Trek: Voyager Profiles marks the continuation of Fleer/SkyBox’s new policy of guaranteeing collectors at least one autographed card in every box of Star Trek trading cards. “The guarantee of an autographed card in every box signifies Fleer/SkyBox’s renewed commitment to Star Trek fans and collectors everywhere,” says Fleer/SkyBox Entertainment Director Steve Charendoff, “and the list of signers is most impressive. We have received cooperation from the entire current starring cast, as well as a number of major guest actors, including John De Lancie and Dwight Schultz, whose importance to Star Trek transcends Voyager. All of the actors involved have been extremely eager to make this program work for the sake of their fans.” In addition to the autographed cards, the base 90-card set will profile the 10 most important characters since the show made its debut four years ago. Each character will be featured in a nine-card subset. Each subset will consist of 3 Personal Log cards; 3 Reflection cards featuring comments about the character from other characters; one Captain’s card with comments from Janeway; one Crew Manifest card, and one Alien Encounter card featuring a significant incident between the character and an alien.
“Since Voyager is such a character-driven show, it only seemed fitting to present a card set in this format,” adds Charendoff. “While we could have presented the set in episodic format, similar to other Trek sets, but newer format enables us to explore each character in more detail. All of the major story arcs and subplots will still be covered in detail, but in a different, more interesting way. In addition to the base set, Star Trek: Voyager Profiles will include the following bonus sets: · Alien Technology — As the name implies, aliens and their ships are the focus of these cards.
